Protocol for Rained Out Matches

Good afternoon coaches/team reps/athletes,

I just wanted to be clear on the protocol for rained out matches for you all.  Many times we (Dennis or myself) will know of field closures only a few hours before matches are scheduled to begin, so please bare with us as this is a very frustrating time for many of us.  If your match is postponed due to weather before the match (the city contacts us informing us the fields are closed)you will get an e-mail from the website, not directly from Dennis or myself.  For us, changing the website is our first priority as it sends an e-mail to all teams involved as well as the referees at the same time.

Some things to note as well;

  • The referee can deem a field unplayable (or call a game due to lightning) and that is there call to make.  Each referee is unique and will make the best call that they can with the knowledge that they have about the situation.  Please respect the decision and ensure that I will get your match re-scheduled for you.
  • Just because one field is deemed unplayable, does not mean that all fields are unplayable (you are playing in 2 different locations) - there will potentially be times where some matches get played and some do not.
  • IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM THE WEBSITE, ASSUME THE MATCH IS STILL ON!
Hopefully there aren't too many reschedules this season, and please let me know as soon as possible if you have any scheduling concerns.  Any questions or concerns, please let me know.
